Our Pirate Ship...

We wanted to plan a new role play area outside for our Transport topic and the children decided they wanted a ship...a pirate ship!
First of all we looked at our resource boxes and the children drew their own plans of how they wanted the ship to look...
Then we started to make some props...all the children wanted an anchor!

Yesterday the children set the ship up with me and they have a had a lovely time playing in it today. It is fully equipped with sea paintings, a sail, a deck, an island with buried treasure and a room for the pirates to rest!
If you have any items at home that you can donate or lend for our Pirate ship we would be very grateful if you can send them in...

We have been busy making our vehicles...

This week we began making vehicles the children designed themselves using the junk modelling we collected.
When they are finished we will post photos of them next week.
The children have been busy talking about the shapes of the boxes and containers they have used and they are all getting very good at naming and describing 3D shapes!

and used clickers to take their own photos...

An artist worked with the children to show them the lights, backgrounds and cameras they would be using....what fun!! Many of them now want to be photographers when they grow up!

African Village...

The children have really enjoyed learning about other cultures in the past two weeks and have loved playing in our African village. Take a look at some of our photos...the children enjoyed dressing up in traditional African clothing...

Have a look at our bike wash and rocket ship!

The children have been using their own ideas to create this term's role play areas for our Journey's topic.
We would really appreciate you sending in any items from home to help us with our bike wash, space rocket and forthcoming boat.
They have really enjoyed using their bike wash and have been learning about road safety with our own road signs and cycle paths...

Our Space rocket is nearly complete! The children have been very creative using their ideas to turn junk modelling materials and fabric into this so far...

And they have really enjoyed playing with our small world space station to give them lots of ideas for our own rocket...
